To honour the majestic power of Nagas (Serpents) the day of victory was turned into a festive occasion of Naag Panchami. This festival also marks venerate to serpents as the water guardians, and to ensure regular rainfall in the Valley. A huge mela or carnival is organized at Nagdaha, believed to be the dwelling of Champak Naag, situated in Dhapakhel of Lalitpur. People worship the serpent god by offering dubo (Bermuda grass), milk, a paste of rice grains and red vermilion powder.
